An Electoral Message from Arnold WOOLLEY, DipIM, MCMI
Your Independent Candidate

Arnolds Woolley

My telephone numbers are  (01244) 549421(H) & (01352) 702108(W)
My mobile telephone number is 07814 876860
My email address is arnooldwoolley@outlook.com and my website can be found at www.arnoldwoolley.com

I shall not come knocking upon your front door to try to persuade you, in a few glib sound-bites, to vote for me. Your private time is yours. If YOU do wish me to call, to listen to your concerns and answer your questions, that I will gladly do. If so, please use any one of the phone numbers or the email above to get in touch with me.

I have been Leader of the county council’s coalition administration for the past four years. In that time we have taken out £19.7Million of cost in running the county, without any programme of compulsory redundancies. We have delivered better than £10Million of Urban Regeneration Grant funding and £5Million for Rural Development also. With the active support of capable officers we have shaken down and tightened up on Council Housing Repairs and Allocations.

We have started to prosecute the few thoughtless dog owners whose animals foul our streets and pathways and have also dealt firmly with some who choose to be “neighbours from hell” so that others can lead tranquil lives.

We have outsourced an inefficient internal stores system, introduced vehicle tracker systems and tightened up on vehicle use, petrol supplies and mileage controls.

There are new medical centres in Mold and Connah’s Quay and one to follow shortly in Buckley. (Even if in the wrong place!) We have gained Enterprise Zone status for the Northern Gateway development area in Sealand and delivered the Council Housing Ballot decision that was previously delayed for so long.

We have delivered balanced budgets and held Council Tax increases down to our promised 3% for each year we have been in control. We will not dig into your pockets to fund shortfalls in our income caused by cutbacks from Cardiff!

Our schools modernization programme has begun with a new school rising in Connah’s Quay and we are tackling, firmly but fairly, the problem of excess seats in other areas.

The full list of our achievements is on my website. Better than 50 items, all told. Do take a look them, please. Alongside our internal achievements, we are collaborating with neighbouring counties and working too on regional issues, some of which important projects we are leading on.

For Buckley, we are intent on delivering the Town Master Plan, which should shortly see another supermarket appear and an improved town centre layout come into being.

In the league table of performance, Flintshire County council presently sits 4th, or 6th, out of 22, depending upon which set of measures you choose to consult. Either way, while that is not a bad place to be, there can be no complacency. We have to improve even more if that story of success is to continue. If it is to do so, Buckley Town and Flintshire county both need strong-minded and dedicated INDEPENDENT councillors.

Each reader of this leaflet will know full well that all of that activity and betterment for Town and County has been achieved in harsh economic times. I am and the Coalition partners are, very conscious of the hard times that have beset us all. Collectively, we are all too well aware that the hardest times have yet to come and that, economically, life is unlikely to show any real signs of improvement until around 2017. Don’t let any glib words on foolish tongues tell you otherwise!

As usual, this leaflet is a little lengthy. That is because I believe that residents need to know what goes on at Town and County Councils. Each should be an open book, not a secret society.

Whatever, this leaflet is to tell you that I still need an army, just as I did in 2008. “Arn’s Army” again if you like. Lots of supportive voters who have seen, heard and read of what I have been about in the past eight years as your INDEPENDENT Town and County Councillor. I did promise to keep you better informed; to challenge County Council inefficiencies and to try to save you money.
I hope that my periodic newsletters, newspaper comments and my chasing, pushing and shoving of the County Council Services on behalf of many individual residents have all convinced you that I have delivered what I promised.

My management skills and my ability to work amicably with Officers and sensible councillors of all shades of opinion, yet not to be gagged by Party Political dictates, allows me to be very effective on your behalf. There is much more work that I wish to do. To get that work done I need to be back there again, as your Town and County councillor, hence this appeal to you to please vote for me on polling day.

If you require transport on the day, do not hesitate to get in touch with me. My car can carry walking aids and has room in the boot for a wheel chair if you use one.

Polling is from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., at the Polling Station stated on your Registered Voter’s Card

So, on 3rd May, 2012, please give me YOUR support

WOOLLEY, Arnold
